Amazon.com Review Serious quilters and sewing professionals know the benefits of having a high-quality iron, especially one with an extra-large water tank that needs refilling less often. Made in Germany with comfort and technology hand in hand, the Rowenta features a soft-grip handle, ideal for this large, heavier-weight iron; a transparent 12.7-ounce water tank with a sliding cover over the fill hole and anti-drip system; and a burst of steam that lasts longer and is forcibly shot into stubborn fabric wrinkles. The iron's soleplate is polished stainless steel that will never chip or peel. Other functions include spray, variable steam, and steam-free ironing, as well as vertical ironing for drapes. Safety is a high priority for Rowenta. This iron shuts off automatically under three different circumstances: after eight minutes of standing vertically without use, and after 30 seconds if left flat on the soleplate or if it has toppled over on its side. A lift or gentle shake reactivates the iron and a light comes on indicating the iron is in use. The iron also features a flexible cord mount for easy maneuverability and an anti-slip frame for stability. Rowenta covers the iron with a one-year warranty. --Ann Bieri

I love this Iron December 16, 2008 I have only had this iron a few months but I love it! Ironing has become a snap. I was surprised to see so many negative reviews. I have had nothing but great results from this iron!
Stay away from Rowenta. Expensive and it doesn't last! December 11, 2008 This was my 2nd Rowenta. They only lasted a few months, I don't know what I was thinking when I bought the 2nd one. They leak ALL the time, the steam isn't great and they aren't worth the price. I recently purchased a Black and Decker for 1/3 of the cost and so far I have to say it is MUCH BETTER.
Never too old to learn December 10, 2008 I bought a Rowenta last year after trying many irons through 48 yrs. and 4 kids. This baby makes ironing downright easy and you couldn't buy it back from me. For the first time, I look forward to ironing and if it needs a replacement, it will absolutely be another Rowenta.
Very disappointing product November 20, 2008 I purchased this iron 10 months ago. Now, it leaks so badly that water completely drains out of it in a matter of minutes. It was fine one minute, and then I had water all over the place the next minute. It was not a gradual leak. This is the second Rowenta iron that I have owned. The first didn't have any issues with leaking, but the cord burned off at the base of the iron as I was using it. Neither of my irons have lasted long, and I think they cost too much money to die so soon.
I don't think that Rowenta irons are good values. They may iron nicely for a few months, but eventually they fall apart. Trying to get a hold of someone to discuss repairs is impossible. They just tell you to ship your iron to one of three locations. I am not about to spend one more dime on a Rowenta product.
Rowenta supposed top quality ~ it isn't quality at all ~ it's badly made October 28, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have had two Rowenta irons. I bought the Rowenta because I used one in a quilting class & that Rowenta always seemed to work fine. So I bought what I thought was the best because I wanted a good quality product that would last a long time. That's where I made my first mistake. Good quality products stopped when American companies stopped making things in America. Circa World War II products & up to the 1970's were made to last. Not anymore.
But back to the Rowenta. The first iron just didn't seem to get hot so I exchanged it for another one. And this second one will shut off if I leave it or set it down even a few seconds. It shuts off, takes forever to heat up; I thought it was just a fluke, just me, I must be doing something wrong. But I have read reviews here on Amazon & on Joann's and these Rowenta's are full of errors. They don't heat up, they shut off too fast, they catch on fire, and review after review said they leak. I use my Rowenta for quilting, so I don't use a lot of steam or water so I haven't had that problem with leaking. But the shutting off in the middle of a project ! ? This iron doesn't work for quilters who need a hot iron for longer periods of time. I have never had a product that performed so badly before, so I was sure I was doing something wrong. But, put me in with all the other reviewers: This is a bad product. Not made well; does not last. I am going back to a basic, old fashion American made iron, one of those older antique irons that heat up and stay on forever. The kind that comes with a really nice big heavy cord, solid steel, & bakelite or heavy duty knobs . This will be the last Rowenta I waste my money on. The fact that they catch on fire, two reviewers said that, scares me. To think I wasted so much money on this .. thing. Don't buy this iron. Even the good reviews don't balance out all the bad ones I have read. Go back and buy American made pre - 1990's stuff, before overseas manufacturers started making junk. Or at least really check out the reviews before you plunk your money down on anything.
