Glad I bought this product. It heats quickly and generates a good quantity of steam. I like it for cleaning my stainless appliances. Haven't tried it yet on my shower, but intend to use it to get rid of some of the soap scum. It is a little awkward to carry around. I bought this after buying the Shark steam pocket mop, which I love.

the machine never produced much steam. i waited over the recommended time for the steam to be ready pressed the trigger and hardly anything happened. a complete waste of time and money. i wouldn't even buy this at a garage sale!

Just Picked Mine Up From Walmart. It was the only handheld steamer they had. I should have paid more attention to A. Bloch's review. I started using it with an open mind, because I really need a steam cleaner right away. Well was I disappointed, I completely agree with A. Bloch's review - doesn't get very hot, you have to get the nozzle about and 1 cm from surface to get the hot steam onto it. It is just a good dog and pony show with some impressive steam coming out, but put your hand into it - its not hot! It is only hot about 1cm or closer to the unit. It would take forever to clean anything using this unit. It is going right back to the store.

Just picked this up today at Costco for $50, sounded like a great deal. There are lots of attachments. I was looking forward to help removing wallpaper (please people, when you move, take the wallpaper with you). Anyhow, I decided to try it on simple jobs first like the kitchen and bathroom, and even tried a grout line. There was hot steam; however, it cleaned no better that I do scrubbing with a regular cloth. I did use the steam scrub brush, brushed with all my might, which left the bristles permantly bent, and no better results than regular scrubbing. So, the cleaning is definately not impressive. Furthermore, holding down the steam button while using the hose attachment, which is required for many of the tools, is awkard and just bad design. Nah, I'm returning to Costco, going to look at something with better reviews, even if it costs a few bucks more!

The Shark portable steam cleaner, just like the Shark floor steam cleaner gets the job done. I think Shark has devalued their product by telling you that either steamer will heat up in 30 seconds - I have to leave both of these steamers plugged in for at least 15 minutes to intially heat up. When they are sufficiently hot, both do their job. They both begin heating when plugged in and must be unplugged (no on/off switch), but I don't find this is a problem.
I bought the portable steamer to clean my new remodeled tile bath with granite counters and it does the job well. I liked being able to steam clean the tile floor in the shower - it seems to clean the grout so I don't have to use chemical cleaners as often. I haven't tried the steamer to refresh/clean our older fabric couch or to steam drapes after washing them - but I will.
Be aware that dusting/vaccuuming is necessary before using the steamers - the dirt will cling to the fabric covers, but dust and crumbs will be left behind in soggy clumps - I'd rather get them taken care of before steaming instead of cleaning up afterwards.
