Product Description Great food takes time something you just don't have. KitchenAid's patient slow cooker does most of the work for you, gently heating the most tender roasts and sumptuous stews you've ever tasted. Just fill the 7-quart ceramic pot with your favorite ingredients, program the 10-hour timer with digital display and let the 400-watt heating element slowly simmer your meal to perfection. The 5-setting cook and serve control keeps food warm until it's ready to serve. Hassle-free one-year replacement warranty.

DO NOT BUY...and I'm being objective here July 23, 2010 cb4556 It is a beautiful looking and nice sized crock pot. However, after about 5 uses, I got the crack all along the base, with a small chunk of porcelain taken out, which I didn't notice until after we ate the food. They sent me out a new one (by the way, the color I originally purchased was discontinued, so they sent me the stainless steel, just one more way I'm not getting what I paid for). The FIRST time I used the replacement, I hear it pop, and sure enough hairline crack along the base. They should take a serious look at the design of this product, instead of just sending out consumers replacements time and time again. She did offer me a buy-back, at HALF the price!! Uh, no thanks. This is a faulty design, and I should not be punished for it. By the way, the customer service reps like to boast that this product is #1 in customer sales, but I've check Consumer Reports, and it is actually #11 on customer satisfaction (among other slow cookers that are priced at half the price). I did take another replacement, but am scared to even use it. What's the point of a slow cooker, if you have to "warm" the food before putting it in, and you have to keep your eye on it? I wouldn't buy this product if it was $1. And I will think twice before purchasing any other KitchenAid products either.
Customer Service was top notch May 28, 2010 Barklesswagmore (LA) Yep mine cracked too after 2 uses (under warranty), but spoke to Live Chat Customer Service and they were immediately apologetic AND helpful. Replacement ceramic on the way. I think the cooker is great, and if this insert works I will be a happy camper. Mine was the most beautiful crockpot at our Chili Cookoff, which almost made up for not winning (-:
It doesn't boil the food!!!!!!! May 14, 2010 Mona Kruckenberg (Originally Montana) I did a lot of research before buying this because of the price. Guess what! When I put things in to cook all day and set it on low, it does not boil. That is a wonderful and exciting thing all by itself. The one that it is replacing boiled everything at low so by the time I got home from work, the food was limp and tasteless. I lived with it until I finally broke the insert and had to replace it. The insert would have cost more to replace than I paid for the original unit. I was hesitant about this one at first because of reviews that I read about the insert breaking on it's own but so far this one is doing great. I think KitchenAide has fixed the problem or least I hope so. I certainly do recommend it and would buy it again if I broke this one as well. As least it looks like KitchenAide stands behind their product which is important, too.
Hairline Cracks May 11, 2010 R. Morris (Southern US) Pretty much the same problem as most people have - Just over a year out of warranty, and it cracks, go figure. Called customer service, and that was a waste of time. Worked fine before it cracked. I've found a different 6qt unit / brand that has a temp probe for half the price with way better reviews, think I'll try that one next.
Buy it if you want, but if you read the reviews pretty much anywhere including the KitchenAid forums you will figure out pretty quick they have issues with this product, so keep that in mind.
Nancee Swartz May 9, 2010 Nancee J. Swartz (Philadelphia, Penn, USA) Nancee Swartz. The KitchenAid Slow Cooker is a programmable slow cooker that is easy to use, clean and has a variety of uses. We have used it for family meals and for both produce and vegetables. Both have been crispy and fresh without overcooking or losing any flavor. The easy instructions and cleaning techniques make the KitchenAid Slow Cooker a welcome addition to any kitchen appliances. Nancee Swartz
