A waffle baker, grill, and griddle, this three-in-one appliance comes in handy during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and after school. Key to the unit's versatility are two 8-inch-square cooking plates--one set into the product's bottom and the other into the hinged top. On one side the plates form grids for making four waffles at once. Flipped over to show their flat sides they're capable of top and bottom grilling a sandwich or steak. To create griddle space, the top opens up flat, forming two 8-inch-square cooking surfaces for all foods that love a griddle--such as pancakes, hash browns, and eggs. Channels send grease to spouts in the griddles' corners, where it drains away. Nonstick to release food easily and wipe clean, the cooking plates also can be removed for scrubbing. A heat control offers high, low, and medium temperatures. With its chrome housing and stay-cool black synthetic handles, this 900-watt appliance looks great on the counter. I have one of these. It's from 30 years ago. My dad would make waffles in it. When he passed, I insisted on keeping it.
This makes the small-hole waffles which are great for butter.
The orange light on front tells when it's at temperature. This doubles as a "done cooking" light.
There's a knob on the front for baking temperature. Hotter makes it more crispy outside and gooey inside. Cooler makes it dry out more but take longer to cook.
The plates flip to allow you to make a grilled cheese sandwich, or pannini type goodies very quickly, without the stripes.
The finish is stainless steel. The unit overall is durable, easy to use, and easy to clean.
The only minus is, since it's metal on the outside, it gets hot. If you're clumbsy, or your kids like to reach up, then you might want one that's mostly plastic on the outside.

Black and Decker used to be good. Their products were well designed and quality built. This product supports "not any more". The product is cheap and flimsey. I didn't even bother to plug it in. I contacted Amazon who graciously took the item back. Forunately B & D has not messed with DeWalt, Porter Cable and Delta too much eventhough my Delta hybrid saw did have some problems upon delivery.
I had to give the product a star (system requirement) eventhough it doesn't deserve one.

Works well but I find that the batter is constantly sticking to the "nonstick" surface. Even reoiling has not helped, so my next step is to change recipes and see if that helps.

I remember when I was around 13yrs old my parents had this grill and waffle maker and I used it every opportunity I got. Well my co-workers and I wanted to by a grill to make grill cheese and I stumble upon it and I had to purchase it brought back memories now @ 37yrs. old. It works wonderful, some old school product are still the best like this one...

I'm really happy with this unit. I've wanted a waffle maker for a while, but it was hard to justify the expense and kitchen real estate for such a limited-used appliance. I jumped on this one as soon as I saw it, since it really is 3-in-1. It works great as a waffle iron; the waffles are thin and cook just right. I actually use it most for sandwiches, as it makes any regular sandwich suddenly much tastier in just a few minutes. It also works well as a griddle, and I have made pancakes and eggs on it.
I can't say enough about how great the removable plates are for cleaning. They are remarkably nonstick in the first place, but taking them off and cleaning them is incredibly easy. It's a snap to switch between the waffle side and the grill/griddle side, too.
In short, I find myself leaving this out on my counter and using it all the time, due to the multi-functionality and the ease of cleaning. I highly recommend it.
