Decorated with delicately drawn and colored flowers, this 700-watt appliance cooks up to 10 cups of rice and then automatically keeps the rice at the proper temperature for up to 12 hours. A locking lid ensures rice stays fresh and moist. Lights indicate whether the unit is in "cook" or "warm" mode, and turning on the cooker requires nothing more than pushing a lever. A nonstick coating on the cooking pan prevents rice from sticking, and the pan can be lifted out of the unit for cleanup. To eliminate clutter on the counter or in storage the power cord retracts under the unit. The cooker measures 12-1/8 inches in diameter and 12-7/8 inches high, and comes with a spatula, spatula holder, and measuring cup. --Fred Brack

Design defect: Making brown rice generates more steam, which condenses into a wet mess on the counter. Zojirushi now tells me this model is not designed for brown rice. (I bought it after reading on their website that "perfect brown rice is made easy with Zojirushi rice cookers." FAQ15 They and Amazon need to conspicuously say that this model is not for brown rice.) As for the disappointing rice, they said to try soaking the rice before cooking. (Which isn't in the instructions and isn't what I expected in an automatic cooker.) My new unit also had a defective thermostat and heater, so it shut off prematurely. They fixed it under warranty (but made me pay $25 shipping.) Finally, they said they wouldn't help me (sending me to Amazon, which will refund my price and shipping.)

I have owned this rice cooker for a few years now, and haven't had a single complaint. It makes perfect rice every time. I don't think I've ever been able to make rice on the stove as tasty as the rice made by this cooker.
My only comments are that the click of the cooker going from "cook" to "keep warm" is pretty quiet, but I've trained my ear for it and rarely miss it when I'm in the general area of the cooker. Also, the 10 cup cooker is HUGE! I've never made over 5 cups of rice in it, and I would definitely have gone for the smaller model if I'd known how huge it would be.

As a Pacific Islander I have been greatly influenced by Asian cultures and rice is a main staple in my diet. It is impotant feature for islanders that rice cookers keep the rice fresh and unspoiled after it is done cooking it. This rice cooker does a great job doing just that.

This is a solid product. I use my cooker regularly and it is still making fantastic rice. I can't recommend this product enough. I'm getting ready to replace it solely on the basis of being tired of looking at it...and I want a timer. I will definitely buy another Zoji. I live in Japan and have had the pleasure of using several Japanese brand appliances. Zojirushi is a winner!

I have had my zojirushi 10 cup rice cooker for over 30 years, it has feed 4 kids and works as good now as it did when we first bought it.We go through 100 pounds of rice a year. And thats a lot of rice for one family. Rice tastes so much better cooked in it. These are a great investment and I am shopping to buy one as a gift now. You cant go wrong with this rice cooker.
