We used to have a CD selector with this function (slide the button, release, lift) and I wanted one again. I was tired of the shelving being dominated by game and movie cases so I ordered two of these to wrangle the clutter. It's compressed everything wonderfully. I love having more space and not having DVD cases getting stacked up everywhere and things being out of their cases or in the wrong cases, and things like that. They're also much more attractive and modern looking than the old, grey, ugly plastic thing we used to have so I don't mind leaving them visibly on the entertainment center which makes putting things away when we're done that much easier.
Initially I was apprehensive of all of the 'auto' features. I didn't want something fancy and I didn't like that it had a tray that slid out at the push of a button. The more bells and whistles in it, the more there is to break prematurely, I felt. I wanted something simple and manual. While I would still probably prefer a completely manual selector, the mechanisms seem pretty secure and they're not battery operated or reliant on complicated latches or anything like that. It's actually a fairly simple system that just makes it look all fancy and automated.
Overall, I'm completely pleased with my investment and feel fairly confident that the automated features will last, even with much use.

I have too many CD's, DVD's and games . . . and I'll probably have more, but this is the best way to minimize space they take up and keep them organized. Get rid of the jewel cases, save the paper inserts and keep them close and you've got a lot more room.

The book lady
I have several of the black disgears, the ones that aren't box shaped but these are nicer because they look much nicer being set out. The other ones I keep hidden. But both models function the same, with this brown one being stackable which is a major bonus.
The only complaint I have is that the stripe of metal fell off on the button you press to open the case and I had to reglue it. But these things are built to last and have never had any problems with any of them, and the faux leather is rather attractive.
These are great for all DVDs, CDs and computer programs, the only thing I wouldn't use it for would be for play station/wii games because there is no way all the literature that comes with the games would fit into the book, but for everything else this is a great way to stay organized.
I put all my DVDs in in alphabetical order and then created a database and can find any movie in the house with in 30 seconds on the computer which is totally worth the time it took to set it up.

This was an item I had been looking for but could not find in most stores. Found it on Amazon for a great price. It eliminated a lot of hard disc cases and allowed me to free up much needed room. Will be back for more as well as the literature albums.

I now have four 100 Discgear storage systems which replaces a stand alone piece of furniture that clutered the room. Now I store all my CD's in my player cabinet that are easily identifiable and accessable. No spending a lot of time locating my music and having to look for it. A great time saver for a music lover.
